Workforce Planning & Talent

Workforce planning is the process of balancing skills against demand. It involves analysing our current workforce, determining future workforce needs, identifying the gap between the present and the future, and implementing solutions so that we can accomplish our strategic plan.

In short, it is about getting the right number of people with the right skills employed in the right place at the right time, at the right cost and on the right contract to deliver Our Future (the University's strategic plan). Workforce planning can enable sustainable performance through better decision-making about the future people needs of the institution.

The University will use the Robust Workforce Planning Framework which has four stages:

  1. Horizon scanning to elicit the uncertain driving forces
  2. Scenario generation to produce challenging futures
  3. Workforce modelling to forecast workforce demand and supply across these futures
  4. Analysis to identify the most robust policies across these uncertain futures
