Making an offer of appointment

Following the interview/selection process, once the preferred candidate has been chosen, a starter form needs to be completed via Jobtrain. Details on how to make an offer via Jobtrain can be found here.

The form must be completed fully and submitted via Jobtrain.

Once fully completed forms have been received by the Recruitment team within People & OD Operations, an offer letter will be emailed to the successful external candidate, and they will be asked to complete a personal details form. All offers will state that they are subject to satisfactory references and completion of relevant employment checks.

Once the form has been completed Employment Services within People & OD Operations will issue a contract.

The following documents will also be sent:

  • Rehabilitation of Offenders form and guidance
  • Pre-employment health screening questionnaire
  • Right to Work acceptable documentation list
  • Bank details form
  • HMRC New Starter Checklist
  • Pensions information
  • Support for disabled staff information
  • New staff induction information leaflet

New employees must also be advised of their induction programme, along with any support services available at the University.

Any further checks required following assessment of the new employee’s occupational health questionnaire, will be followed up directly by Occupational Health.

Details of relocation expenses, where appropriate, will be included in the appointment letter.
