Talking About Flexible Working

The University wants to encourage the best possible talent to come and work here with us.  We know that many job applicants seek flexible working opportunities, so during recruitment we encourage managers to consider whether a role can be undertaken flexibly (including in a hybrid way).  This helps to open our job opportunities to the widest possible internal and external talent pool.

We encourage our hiring managers to include flexible working opportunities when advertising their roles, and let candidates know that we are open to discussing a variety of working patterns.  This doesn’t commit recruiting managers to offering any specific working pattern.  Where taking part in the Professional Services hybrid working trial we also recommend including this in recruitment advertising.

Recruiting managers can find guidance on assessing a role for suitability for flexible working

More resources for managers on flexible working can be found on our Managers’ Essentials pages.
