Giving Tuesday 2021

Giving Tuesday

How to support Giving Tuesday

#GivingTuesday is celebrated around the world on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This is a day where you can do something to support the good causes that mean so much to you.

Our Payroll Giving Scheme enables you to donate to your favourite charity on a regular or one-off basis by automatic deductions from your monthly pay. A monthly gift of £10 from your take-home pay to your chosen charity will be automatically boosted (at no cost to you) to £12.50 for a 20% rate tax payer and £16.66 for a 40% rate tax payer.

Thank you for all your giving - 2021

Giving Tuesday 2021 is a day to shine a light on your incredible generosity via the Payroll Giving Scheme.

Your giving during the past 12 months has been exceptional. In the last 12 months (1 Nov 2020 - 31 Oct 2021) over £145,627.55 alone has been donated to great causes. This is the highest 12 month total since the payroll giving scheme relaunched in 2014.

The most popular charities being supported by the Payroll Giving Scheme include Shelter, Oxfam, Unicef UK, WaterAid, Cancer Research UK, RSPCA, Save the Children Fund, Macmillan Cancer Support, RSPCA and Street Support Network.

The charity with the most donations by value in the past 12 months was Oxfam and the most popuar charity by number of donors was Shelter.

Oxfam has sent a wonderful message of thanks to you all for donations that totalled £11,749.32in the past 12 months! They wanted you to know that they "sincerely appreciate the kindness of your staff this year, and hope this will help them realize the impact of their donations to Oxfam!"

Fabienne Clough, Regional Community Fundraiser (Greater Manchester) of Shelter has alsoi sent a message of thanks:

On behalf of everyone here at Shelter and everyone who accesses our services across Greater Manchester, I want to say a massive thank you to every staff member choosing to support Shelter through payroll giving. The £6,111.28 you have donated this year means that we have been able to continue our vital services during a turbulent time for many people. To put that into context, one call to our Targeted Advice Service costs roughly £15, meaning your donations could cover the cost of support for over 407 people! Together you have changed the lives of 407 people and joined us in the Fight For Home. Thank you again for all your continued support!”
