Wellbeing lecture for World Antibiotic Awareness Week

02 Nov 2020

A feminist perspective on the fight against Antimicrobial Resistance at noon on Wednesday, 18 November

In support of World Antibiotic Awareness Week, our University’s Action on Antibiotic Drug Resistance programme is delighted to announce that the Annual Lecture will be given by Dr Jennifer Hobbs, who completed her doctoral studies here at Manchester.

All are welcome to join us for this Zoom session.

Dr Hobbs will discuss the increasing priority given to antimicrobial resistance by policy makers bringing a host of militarised metaphors to the ‘fight’ against AMR. Drawing on insights from feminist science studies, this talk considers the politics of ‘weaponising’ the discourse around AMR.

What do such military languages reveal and hide in our discussions about AMR – and what are the consequences for the future?
