Music

The Martin Harris Centre and the Department of Music have brought the joy of live performance to a new universal audience online. Music Online is available via YouTube and is sharing new musical performances from across the genres regularly.

Settle in for some world view-challenging content courtesy of the Lockdown Lectures, featuring insights from Professors David Olusoga, Gary Younge and Michael Wood. Watch now.

The Centre for New Writing presents two podcast series. The Podcast for new writing series shares the wisdom of emerging writers, while The Rylands Brief marks 50 years of Carcanet Press and its celebratory, yet unseen, exhibition at the John Rylands Library and includes interviews with poets, writers, artists and friends of Carcanet.

A new publication produced by the Institute for Cultural Practices aims to share news on arts practice and policy, as well as updates on our research and the work our students, alumni, academics and partners are carrying out. The state of the world has also inspired poetry, with students from The Centre for New Writing responding to Covid-19 with words, while the winners of the Centre for New Writing and Creative Manchester Schools Poetry Competition 2020 have been revealed.
