09 Jan 2020

Welcome to the first update of 2020.

Nice cup of tea

You can save 10% with Teamwalking who have released a number of events for 2020 including the Derbyshire Six Dales, Peak District Challenge Walk for £35 (before discount) and the Ullswater Way.

The Sugden Centre has off peak memberships that start from £10.75 per month. Find out more here and how to apply.

You can save an extra 20% with the Hotpoint Whirlpool Privilege Club this month using the secure code.

Zouk are offering a free brunch dish when you buy one, until the end of January. The dishes on offer are a mix of authentic Indian breakfast items and traditional western brunch dishes, with an Indian twist.   Choose from the fabulous Bombay Baked Eggs, made with spiced tomatoes, potato and spinach, Keema & Anda Burji, or go all out with our Marharaja's Breakfast.  The delicious brunch menu is served Wednesday to Friday from 8am to 12noon and 9am to 1pm at the weekend.

The Manchester Movement Unit have 20% off thermal sports massage this month and they are also offering 20% off Women’s health physiotherapy in January. This will apply on top of the discount they already offer UoM staff.

Wellbeing

The staff wellbeing calendar covering the period up to July 2002 is available on the staff wellbeing website.

Maybe you are participating in Dry January, Ginuary or Veganuary.  Whatever challenge you have set yourself – good luck! If you are simply wanting to try a new type of exercise, why not try a Be Active drop in class this month. It’s a great way to try before you buy.

Since the Staff Wellbeing Fair more than 50 staff have signed up to learn more about Hearing Dogs work and of those, more than 30 are interested in volunteering! This just reflects, yet again, your generosity with time and money.

Take notice

In January and February the University highlights 'Take Notice' of the the six ways to well being. Depression and loneliness is on the rise but many suffer in silence. January can be a "blue time" for many. Why not 'Take notice' of those around you to reach out to colleagues and friends and connect to allow those to talk about what is on their mind over a cup of tea.

Prize draw

To kick start January there is a chance to win one of two A Nice Cup of Tea FriendinaBox (plus a pack of biscuits).

To be in with a chance, just answer the following question:

Q. One of the top tea brands in the world is:

a) Twinings

b) Twinklings

Email staffbenefits@manchester.ac.uk by midnight on Friday 24th January. Please mark the subject A Nice Cup of Tea and indicate if you have a preference for gluten free biscuits.

Keep up to date with benefits and wellbeing.
