Library to introduce new reading lists service this summer

Reading Lists Online will streamline several existing services for staff
This summer the Library will introduce Reading Lists Online, the new system that will enable staff to manage their reading lists and request new teaching resources from a single online location. It is the result of a pioneering service overhaul which will make life easier for teaching staff and improve the student experience at Manchester.
Reading Lists Online is an outcome of the Library’s Reading List Strategy, which was developed through engagement and partnership with University staff during the ambitious Books Right Here Right Now project. Designed to maximise the Library’s contribution to the University’s strategic objectives and success, the new service supports the Manchester 2020 goal to provide an outstanding learning and student experience.
Olivia Walsby, Reading Lists Manager at the Library, said: “Launching Reading Lists Online with a dedicated Reading Lists team allows us to integrate reading list management with resource acquisition and streamline access for our students. Reading Lists Online will combine several existing Library services to simplify and streamline processes for teaching staff, including the current reading list system, Link2Lists, and all existing methods of requesting reading list items. It enables the Library to deliver teaching resources in the most efficient and effective way available in line with its Purchasing Policy, another result of Books Right Here Right Now. Students will benefit from enhanced resource provision and increased availability across all course units, as well as an improved experience when accessing their reading.
Over the summer months, the Library’s dedicated Reading Lists team will collaborate with the teaching community so that Reading Lists Online is ready to launch to students for the start the 2019-20 academic year. From 1 May 2019, the Library will support academic colleagues with the move to the new system.
