Development and Alumni work together on core values

15 Feb 2019

Division of Development and Alumni Relations embarks on new process to articulate and shape their ways of working

The University of Manchester

Staff Survey 2019 launches on 4 March so we’re sharing some of the actions which have taken place as a result of your feedback in the 2017 survey.

The Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR) have embarked on a process to articulate and shape their way of working by embedding a set of values which support the Division’s strategic objectives to raise £150million of philanthropic income over 5 years to 2020/21 and involve 7,300 informed and active alumni volunteers by 2020/21.

Colleagues across the Division contributed to the development of the core values which now inform much of the work that takes place in DDAR. The core values encourage colleagues to have an impact and make a difference by having integrity and being bold, collaborative and ambitious.

Since the launch in January 2018, the values have been embedded into:

  • the recruitment and selection process;
  • Team and Divisional meetings, 1-2-1 meetings and Personal and Development Reviews;
  • ‘Applause’ an internal recognition platform which encourages people to recognise how individuals and teams have demonstrated the values;
  • Lanyards, z-cards, mugs and office graphics so that the team have visible reminders.

Staff Survey 2019

Staff Survey 2019 launches on Monday, 4 March and runs until Monday, 8 April.

You will receive an email or, if you don’t work at a computer, be given the chance to fill in the Staff Survey form. It only takes around 15 minutes to complete, and you can be sure that all the information you supply will be anonymous and treated in strictest confidence. This is because the Staff Survey 2019 is being administered on the University’s behalf by an external company, Capita.

The survey results will be published in June.
