Free contact lens fittings and check-ups

Clinic offered by fully supervised, final year students

Optometry clinic

Students in the final year of their optometry degree provide a clinical service to members of the public as part of their training at The University of Manchester.

During these clinical sessions, the students are supervised by a fully-qualified optometrist staff member.

As an incentive for patients to attend the contact lens clinic (and therefore provide clinical experience for our students), we offer FREE contact lens fittings, trials and check-ups for all staff, students and members of the general public (16 years and above).

We only charge for the lenses themselves and these are subsidised. We stock a wide range of contact lenses from all the main contact lens manufacturers including daily disposable, monthly disposable, coloured, toric, rigid and bifocal contact lenses.

If you would like to attend the clinic, either for new contact lenses or for continuing contact lens aftercare (check-ups), telephone:

  • 0161 306 3860 or 0161 275 5354.

All contact lens wearers and those wishing to try contact lenses for the first time are welcome.

The clinic is situated in the Carys Bannister building, just off Dover Street and free parking is available.
