Power electronics – enabling a resilient energy system

Targeted call for Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs).

The Technology Strategy Board, Welsh Government and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) are to invest jointly up to £1m to establish new Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) in the area of power electronics. 

Innovative projects are particularly encouraged in the fields of:

  • development of power electronics devices
  • innovative materials
  • systems approaches
  • development of megawatt-scale (MW) power electronics devices
  • development of MW-scale converters in Flexible AC Transmission Systems
  • high voltage DC systems using GW-scale power electronics converters
