Greater Manchester bus priority package

13 Aug 2012

Proposals to improve bus links between Manchester city centre and Leigh, Atherton, Middleton and Parrs Wood.

Bus Priority

Bus Priority is one of the largest investments into Greater Manchester's bus network in decades. The proposals will improve bus travel between Leigh, Atherton, Middleton and Parrs Wood and across Manchester city centre.

The Bus Priority package will significantly improve the quality, punctuality, convenience and reliability of bus journeys. It will increase the number of passengers who will be able to travel to their destination in one journey, removing the need to change services within Manchester city centre.

Works on Bus Priority will begin later this year and will be operational by early 2015.

A brochure about the bus priority package is available at:

You can also find further information on the overall scheme online at:

A public consultation event on the Bus Priority package relating to plans for Upper Brook Street and Lloyd Street will be held on campus during September. Full details will be announced on StaffNet News/eUpdate.
