Graduations hit the big screen

10 Jul 2012

The big screen at the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons was switched on for the first time on 9 July to broadcast the graduation ceremonies live.

Graduation on the big screen

The Learning Commons – a world-class 21st century learning environment offering a stimulating and comfortable workspace on a 24/7 basis, including flexible individual and group study facilities and access to computers, scanning and printing facilities – was named after the University’s inaugural President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Alan Gilbert, who died in July 2010.

It is due to open in September, with the big screen at the back of the building in full use. However there will be a preview with the live broadcasts of the graduations during the next two weeks (9-20 July).

The Students' Union is also showing live screenings of graduation ceremonies in the Union Bar throughout the graduation period.
