Notice from IT Services regarding the Windows 8 preview and University PCs and laptops

Microsoft have released a preview of Windows 8 - the next version of their PC operating system.

As many of you will know, there is a University project looking at deploying the current version (Windows 7) to student and staff managed desktop PCs over the next 12 months and this remains the operational priority before attention is turned to Windows 8.

In the interim a group within IT Services will be looking at how Windows 8 can be deployed early for self-supporting users.

Until further guidance is issued, the preview version of Windows 8 must not be downloaded and run on any University PC or laptop connected to the University's network as this may adversely affect the network.
