EPS steps up to the Pedometer Challenge

30 Mar 2012

Staff in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences took part in a Faculty-wide Pedometer Challenge for Sport Relief recently.

Organised by the Faculty External Relations Office, the challenge was to walk as many steps as possible in seven days (16-22 March) with the recommendation being at least 10,000 steps a day (in accordance with British Heart Foundation guidelines).

Staff from various Faculty business areas took part, as well as staff from the Schools of Materials, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering. Between them, they walked more than one million steps and raised a fantastic £431 for Sport Relief.

The event was followed by a prizegiving on Friday 23 March at which staff were awarded their medals as follows:

  • First prize - Marie Davies (EEE)
  • Second prize - Nikola Hassell (MACE)
  • Third prize - Sue Hubbard (MACE)

A big thanks to all who took part for supporting charity whilst keeping fit!
