Fundamentals of next generation sequencing (19 June) * Next generation sequencing bioinformatics (20 June)

Fundamentals of next generation sequencing
19 June 2012 - One-day session

This one-day course is aimed at researchers and scientists from the NHS, academia and industry who require an introduction to next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies.

Delegates will learn about the main commercial sequencing platforms, the underlying chemistry and upstream sample preparation technologies.

The course will include case studies and presentations from scientists currently using NGS in their work. It will also look at the wide range of applications for NGS technologies, and at the future of this rapidly developing science.

Next generation sequencing bioinformatics
20 June 2012 - One-day session

This one-day course is aimed at researchers and scientists from the NHS, academia and industry who require an introduction to the analysis of next generation sequencing (NGS) data.

Delegates will learn about the different approaches to analysing data from the main NGS platforms. The course will cover topics on proprietary software, third-party systems and open-source applications. It will also address the current challenges for IT infrastructure, data transfer, processing and storage.

This course is being delivered by Nowgen in partnership with Genomatix, a company offering both hardware and software solutions to NGS analysis.
