Reporting stolen data storage devices

All stolen data storage devices,  including memory sticks, removable disk drives, laptops and  computers,  must be reported to the Security Office immediately the theft is discovered - telephone 0161 306 9966 - the number is on the back of your staff card.

Laptop encryption

It is University policy that all University-owned laptops, regardless of funding source, must be encrypted. No personal data relating to staff, students or research participants or confidential information should be stored on unencrypted storage devices such as laptops, computers, removable hard drives and memory sticks.

If this does not address your concerns, please contact your local IT support who have access to a cross-University encryption group who can investigate any issues which might be preventing you from encrypting your laptop.
