IT Security : Registering for third party computer services
18 Jan 2012
Protect your University online ID - choose a different password.
When you register on a third party web site for a service provided via the University (such as Perkz) or any other non-University IT service, you must not use your University IT account password.
Your University IT account password is the key to your professional online identity and is protected by IT Services in a number of ways. Third party service providers may not protect your account details as carefully and may even store your password insecurely.
If you do register with a third party, please do not use your University email alias as the account name. If at all possible, use an alternative email address, and create a new password.
Ideally, every account should have a different password, particularly Facebook, Twitter and all the other social network services.
