BII symposium in Radiation Therapy Planning

31 Oct 2011

You are warmly invited to attend the Biomedical Imaging Institute (BII) Symposium in ‘Radiation Therapy Planning’ that is taking place on 16 November 2011.

The symposium will start with lunch at 12 noon in room 2.217, University Place, and will be followed by the symposium itself at 1pm in Room 2.218.

Radiation therapy is an important option for the treatment of a wide range of cancers. Careful planning of the radiotherapy beam extent is needed to maximise the radiation dose to the tumour while sparing healthy tissues.

Imaging is the only way to provide detailed information with which to plan the radiotherapy dose. A number of challenges exist in the process of radiotherapy planning from imaging data, which leads to active research in the area in order to improve the accuracy and consistency of radiation dosing.

Speakers at this symposium are:

  • Gareth Webster – MR in radiotherapy
  • Peter Julyan – PET-CT
  • Ranald Mackay – Proton therapy

If you would like to register to attend this event, please complete the online registration form at:
