Umpire and referee training courses * Thanks for supporting Zumbathon * National Lottery Olympic Park Run * Weight Watchers at Work group * Ladies' 5-a-side football.

Dates confirmed for Umpire and Referee training courses

Become a referee or umpire and gain an official level 1 qualification by completing a 1 day course organised by SPORT Manchester. Open to both staff and students the following courses will be run at the Armitage Sports Centre in Fallowfield:

  • Netball Umpire C Award training course on Sunday 13 November 2011 (10am – 4pm) cost £25.00
  • Basketball Level 1 Referee course on Saturday 19 November 2011 (10am – 2pm) cost £25.00
  • Hockey Level 1 Umpire course on Sunday 20 November 2011 (10am – 3pm) cost £30.00

To book on one of the above courses, you will need to visit:

Thank you for your support at Zumbathon!

Thank you to all those who attended the Zumbathon last Saturday at the Armitage Sports Centre. Over 100 people turned up to take part in the 2 hour charity dance and fitness workout to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Be the first to cross the finish line at the Olympic stadium!

The National Lottery Olympic Park Run will take place on 31 March 2012 and you can now enter for a chance to take part and be one of the first people to cross the finish line in the Olympic stadium. 5,000 people will get the chance to take part in the 5 mile run which will traverse the Olympic Park and offer access across it on a scale not yet experienced by the public.

The National Lottery Olympic Park Run is open to anyone aged 16 or over, of any running ability. 

Weight Watchers at Work Group

Well done to the Weight Watchers at Work group who lost a staggering 205lbs (14st 6lbs) between them last month. The group meets every Tuesday at 12.30pm in the UMSA Lounge.

Ladies' 5-a-side football team are recruiting members

The MMU and University of Manchester Ladies 5-a-side football team are looking for new members. The team play every Tuesday from 5pm to 6pm at the Sugden Sports Centre and receive coaching once a month from an FA qualified coach. Open to all fitness and skill levels, the sessions cost £3.50 a week.
