Snow falls on University Place!

Snow fell early this year on University Place as the Ski and Snowboard club wowed crowds on Oxford Road with their live demonstration. Snow was shipped in from the Chillfactore and a slope erected from scaffolding creating a temporary ski and snowboard slope! Passers by enjoyed a show of skill and adrenaline as students from the club wizzed down the slope. The event was to raise awareness about SPORT at the University in particular showcasing our Ski and Snowboard club which is the biggest in the UK!

Scholarship athlete’s achievements of the month

Well done to Graeme Thomas, final year Bio-Medical Science student (Faculty of Life Sciences), who was recently selected to represent the GB in double scull at the European Rowing Championships in Bulgaria. Graeme along with team mate Henry Pelly fought off stiff competition to get through to the final where they finished 5th.

Also well done to Blaire Hannan, first year speech and language therapy student (Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences), who has secured her place in the GB Paralympic Transition Squad after a great performance in the National Inland Championships for Sailing.
