Become a Trustee of St Ann’s Hospice

18 Feb 2011

Applications invited by 16 March from people who have held positions of responsibility

St Ann’s Hospice in Heald Green is seeking applications for people who would be interested in joining its Council of Trustees, to broaden the skills and experience of the current group. This is an unpaid role but offers the opportunity for successful candidates to make a real difference to their local charity.

St Ann’s Hospice is one of the UK’s largest adult hospices, providing a range of services and care to support people with life-limiting illness, their families and carers across three sites within the Manchester area. We are the local charity for Greater Manchester, serving a diverse population of 1.2 million people.

As an independent local charity, all care is provided free of charge to over 3000 people. In total, St Ann’s Hospice needs around £9 million every year to offer its wide range of services, of which only 35% is received from government funding. The Hospice itself has to raise an additional £16,000 a day.

St Ann’s is looking for people who have held positions of responsibility, particularly (but not necessarily) in law, finance, fundraising and marketing. Potential Trustees should have empathy with the hospice movement and a willingness to devote the necessary time to play a full part in the running of the Council. This will include attending Council meetings, six per year, normally held during the working day. Trustees are also encouraged to serve on sub-committees within the Hospice, where possible matching their own skills and experience to those required for the groups.

For further details, please contact Stephen Chetwood, Chairman, on 0161 498 3639.

The closing date for receipt of completed application forms is 16 March 2011.
