A History of the World mini tour
Unravel the stories behind objects we have chosen for A History of the World (a partnership between the British Museum, the BBC and museums across the UK). This month’s objects is a Bronze Age Cypriot 'opium juglet' which was used as an early form of packaging. With Lindy Crewe.

Ideas Café: China and globalisation.
Wuhan is a rainy city in central China and happens to be Manchester's sister city. Chinese silk was used in the Manchester and Macclesfield silk industries since the 17th Century. The links between Manchester, China and the rest of the world are explored in this evening of object handling, talks and discussion.
Arrive at 6pm to see objects which historically link Manchester and China including tea leaves and silk worms and visit our China: Journey to the East exhibition. Then listen to short talks by Annette Jones, Manchester City Council, about Manchester's links with schools in Beijing and Paul Irwin Cookes, The University of Manchester, about how rapidly Chinese technology and knowledge industries are changing and the opportunities they present for Manchester.
