Confucius Institute at The University of Manchester will hold a Mandarin Corner Open day on Friday 3 December in the south wing foyer of Samuel Alexander Building from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

This is an exhibition of Chinese culture in which calligraphy, the “sign” tradition and basic knowledge about China will be displayed and introduced in three booths:

  • In the calligraphy booth, you will be able to see people writing in brush and to get a small souvenir of your own name in Chinese characters;
  • in the Chinese Quiz, small prizes will be sent if you can answer 10 questions correctly; and
  • in the “sign” booth, you will be able to learn your own Chinese astrological “sign” and the meaning behind it according to “ba gua”.

There will also be a performance including Chinese folk music and taiji from 12.10 to 12.30pm.

Join us to learn and have fun! Have a look at our exhibition: it will be a good chance to experience Chinese culture for yourself.
