'Queer and Catholic: some musings on the papal visit'

Lecture by distinguished speaker Mark Dowd on 26 August

As part of Manchester Pride, the LGB Staff Network Group are hosting a lecture entitled 'Queer and Catholic: some musings on the papal visit'. They have distinguished speaker Mark Dowd speaking at this event ahead of his BBC documentary on the same subject.

Mark Dowd has fronted a number of award-winning documentaries on Channel Four, including 'Children of Abraham: a post 9/11 journey through the monotheistic faiths' and 'Tsunami: Where was God?' (winner of the Radio Times best religious documentary  2006). He has also worked with Weekend World, Newsnight and Panorama and was awarded the prestigious "Religious Broadcaster of the Year" by the Churches' Media Council, in June 2006. He is currently preparing the BBC documentary on Pope Benedict for airing in September, as well as a Radio 4 programme on British Catholicism.

This lecture takes place on Thursday 26 August from 5.30pm in Lecture theatre D7, Renold Building. The event is free, however, due to expected popularity, pre-registration is essential.  You can secure your space by sending an email to:
