New podcast from Centre for Atmospheric Science

27 Jul 2010

Learn more about weather, climate, and this week ... volcanoes and ash clouds

The Barometer is a new podcast (radio-style audio programme) produced by the Centre for Atmospheric Science at The University of Manchester. If you download the show, you will hear scientists and students from the Centre discussing the climate, weather and air pollution.

Each episode focuses on a single topic. Our newest episode, 'Volcanicity' is about the impact of volcanoes on climate and aviation, and includes a conversation with scientists who studied the Icelandic ash cloud over the UK last spring. In the previous episode, we talked about the atmosphere at the World Cup and, in the future, we'll discuss what it is like working in the extreme conditions of the Arctic, ponder why it is so difficult to forecast the weather, and compare clouds to traffic jams.
