Dragon Boat Race winners and FREE pedometers, plus more ...

Dragon Boat winners are purple and proud!

A successful weekend for SPORT at The University of Manchester as the boat club swept the board at the Two Cities Boat Race rowing regatta. Also victorious were ‘Purple Pride’, a team made up from student members of the Athletic Union. They endured three heats, a semi-final and a final, beating off stiff competition from Manchester Airport and Salford Reds to be crowned Dragon Boat champions!

Why not bring a friend?

It is 'Bring a Friend' week at Parkrun on Saturday 29 May, so if you are a regular or want to try it out for the first time, then why not come with one of your friends or a member of your family. The South Manchester Parkrun is a FREE event held every Saturday morning at Platt Fields Park, Fallowfield. The fun, social run is ideal for complete beginners or club runners and you can build yourself up every week to try and achieve your personal best. Get your free ‘Get Walking Keep Walking’ pedometer

Pick up a FREE pedometer and 12 week walking plan from the SPORT Head Office, William Kay house, 333 Oxford Road (opposite the Student Union) open 9.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

All you have to do is fill out a Get Walking Keep Walking registration form.

Calling all netball players

Campus Sport  are starting a brand new summer netball league for both staff and students which will play every Tuesday evening from 15 June until 14September 2010. The league is open to everyone and the fun, social environment is ideal for beginners and those returning to netball. The games will take place at the Sugden Sports Centre and will be played on a rotation between 6.30pm and 9.30pm. You can enter a team of up to twelve players with a minimum of seven players needed for each game.
