Swimming lessons, zumba classes and FREE pedometers plus more news from SPORT

   

Two Cities Boat Race - this Saturday!

Manchester and Salford go head-to-head in the Two Cities Boat Race this Saturday (8 May 2010) at Salford Quays. The action packed schedule will kick off at 10.30am with a morning of fun, yet competitive Dragon Boat Racing in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Followed by a series of intense, nail biting races between the Universities of Salford and Manchester boat clubs, from 2.30pm. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better with more music, entertainment, food and refreshments. So make your way down to Salford Quays to cheer on your city!

Pick up a FREE pedometer and 12 week walking plan from the SPORT Head Office, William Kay house, 333 Oxford Road (opposite the Students' Union) open 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

All you have to do is fill out a Get Walking Keep Walking registration form.

Spaces available on swimming lessons

Learn to swim or improve your technique with lessons run by the University’s Swimming Club. The popular courses welcome people of all abilities, from complete beginners to those who want to advance their technique. All lessons, including female only and mixed groups, take place at the Manchester Grammar School on a Wednesday evenings and are run by AQA qualified instructors.

Calling all netball players

Campus Sport are starting a brand new summer netball league for both staff and students which will play every Tuesday evening from 15 June until 14September 2010. The league is open to everyone and the fun, social environment is ideal for beginners and those returning to netball. The games will take place at the Sugden Sports Centre and will be played on a rotation between 6.30pm and 9.30pm. You can enter a team of up to twelve players with a minimum of seven players needed for each game.
