"Gilbert was wrong!" A talk by Robin Oake, former Chief Constable of the Isle of Man
Wednesday 17 March, 1-2pm

The title of the talk is taken from Robin Oake's book Gilbert was wrong! and refers to "The Policeman's Song" from the Gilbert & Sullivan opera The Pirates of Penzance.
Whilst acknowledging that policing has many challenges, frustrations, criticisms and misunderstandings, Robin Oake will try to explain these with humour and ultimately prove the impossible is possible!
Brief biography of Robin Oake
- Graduate of University College, London [LL.B].
- Began in London's Metropolitan Police in central Divisions and New Scotland Yard.
- Was on the Directing Staff at Bramshill International Police College, specialising in anti-terrorism and public order.
- Moved to Manchester as Superintendent at Moss Side and rose to Assistant Chief Constable before his posting to the Isle of Man as Chief Constable.
- Now resident again in the UK as Chancellor of the Venerable Order of St John.
