Changes to interest-free season ticket loan scheme

tram and buses

As part of the University's Travel Plan, the interest free loan scheme has been updated to allow the University to access some corporate discounts (see below) and staff to order and collect tickets from their local HR office.

The interest free loan scheme makes it easier for staff to benefit from an annual public transport ticket, which are much better value than daily, weekly and monthly tickets. The University orders and purchases the ticket and staff pay back interest free from their salary over 10 months.

The main benefits are:

  • Annual tickets are much better value than other options
  • Corporate discounts can be accessed (see below)
  • No queuing at the station (order and pick up from the University)
  • No need to organise a ticket every day, week or month
  • Tickets are valid 24/7

Corporate discounts:

  • Stagecoach annuals £405 (annuals not available to the public)
  • 5% off annual System One Bus and County Cards
  • 10% off annual Metrolink tickets

The new system is now on StaffNet, where you can find more details, application forms, and terms and conditions:

Virtually all annual tickets can be ordered, e.g. all train tickets (incl the GM Traincard), all main bus operator tickets, tram tickets and combination tickets.

Applications should be made via your local HR office.
