The Culture and International Mental Health Conference initiative is a joint venture between The University of Manchester and the University of Toronto.

The mission of the conference is to provide an open forum for all topics that interest the diverse international mental health and cultural studies community, generate lively, critical debate about contemporary society; foster contacts and the exchange of ideas; and ultimately, draw inspiration from each other.

We encourage international participation from different countries, disciplines and cultural backgrounds, as well as from a wide range of research areas. In that way, the conferences also show where Transcultural mental health studies are going next.

The most senior academic professors from within the North West will lead the sessions, and speakers include leading researchers from the UK, North America, Asia and Africa.

The meetings are open to all interested clinicians and professionals within the UK and not aimed purely at those of an ethnic culture – one objective of the meeting being to educate in the need for appropriate management of patients across a variety of cultures.

Registration information and fees

• Fee includes lunch and coffee/tea on both days.
• £225 per person.
• Early Bird rate £150 for registrations received by 15 September 2010.
• Full payment must accompany registration form.
• Make cheques payable to 'The University of Manchester'.
• Cheque and money orders accepted.
