29 May 2008

Meeting on 5 June for current, prospective and former cyclists.

1-2pm, in G205, Alan Turing Building (please note this month we shall meet on the THURSDAY).

All cyclists, current and prospective, ex-cyclists and anybody with an interest are urged to attend this University-wide public meeting.

The meeting will focus on University acitivies for National Bike Week - see:

14-21 June 2008 is National Bike Week during which bike groups across the institutions of the Higher Education Precinct (HEP), i.e. The University of Manchester, MMU, RNCM and MRI, are organising various events during the week to promote and encourage cycling. The key events will be on National Bike2Work Day (Wednesday 18 June), with Bike2Work 'Cycle Buddy' Rides from various locations across the city into the HEP area.

We are hoping to encourage more people to try cycling to work by providing experienced cyclists to show people a safe and pleasant route into the HEP arena. On reaching the HEP area, there will be the opportunity to converge on a central point where there will a range of activities (prizes, maintenance, security marking and lots more).

To find out more, whether you're a keen cyclist or wish to give cycling a go, then come along to the meeting to hear what's being planned and to give your input on how to make the event better.
