Next week's events at the Martin Harris Centre.

19 Feb 2008

Four concerts, including two free lunchtime performances.

The Martin Harris Centre's current season is packed with a diverse range of exciting events. If you haven't already seen our new brochure, please pick one up from around the University or check out our website for full details.

This month's events continue with another FREE lunchtime concert in the Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall on Thursday 21 February at 1.10pm with a percussion extravaganza performed by music students led by Paul Patrick, principal percussionist of the BBC Philharmonic.

This weekend we present two very diverse concerts:

  • Friday 22 February at 7pm - The University of Manchester Big Band explore the contemporary world of music for Jazz Orchestra, including repertoire by Stan Tracey and Bob Curnow, together with local Manchester composers and arrangers. MUBB are fast establishing a reputation as one of Manchester's leading big bands, and this is a must see event.
  • Saturday 23 February at 7pm - The University of Manchester Symphony Orchestra present an all-English programme featuring works by Elgar, Holst and Britten, and crowned by the world premiere of the piano concerto by the University's own music lecturer Dr Camden Reeves.

Our season of FREE lunchtime concerts continues the following week - Thursday 28 February at 1.10pm with the Lawson Piano Trio presenting powerful Jewish-influenced works by Shostakovich and Copland.
