North West NHS Innovation Awards 2007 — £5000 Prize Fund

21 Aug 2007

Applications invited by 28 September

Do you have a good idea for improving health services for patients? Would £1000 and expert advice help you to protect or develop your idea for a new medical product? Or, perhaps you want to raise awareness of an innovative service that has demonstrated improved patient care, cost savings or other benefits within your Trust? If so, you should apply for the North West NHS Innovation Awards 2007.

Delivered by TrusTECH, jointly with NHS North West (the North West Strategic Health Authority), the awards provide the opportunity to win £1000 and advice from NHS Innovation Managers at TrusTECH. If successful, you will also be invited to attend an award ceremony on Tuesday 6 November in Manchester.

Winning applications for the North West NHS Innovation Awards* will automatically be entered in the National NHS Innovation Awards, so entering is also an excellent way of raising the profile of your Trust as an innovative organisation within the North West and beyond.

This year, applications are invited for four categories (each with a £1000 prize for the first prize winner):

1. Training or Educational Materials
2. Medical Device, Equipment, Diagnostics, or Therapeutics
3. Software/Systems
4. Service Improvements or Developments
(Any novel process [i.e. a process that is unique to the NHS in general, not just the applicant's organisation] that has demonstrated significant benefits to the NHS)

A special award of £1000 will also be presented by NHS North West for the entry (in any of the categories above) which makes, or could make, the most significant contribution to the NHS in the North West.

TrusTECH welcomes applications from North West NHS employees (including those with honorary contracts) within all departments and disciplines.

The closing date for applications is Friday 28 September 2007 at 4pm.  Applicants are encouraged to submit their entries early (before 14 September) to go into a prize draw to win one of several branded USB Drives.

Rules of the competition and the application form are available at:

* Note that if your entry is short listed, you or a representative from your team will be required to attend the awards ceremony in Manchester on 6 November (7pm-10pm), so please keep your diary free.
