New restaurant The Beehive opens on campus

03 Feb 2023

The new restaurant is situated within the historic Oddfellows Hall

Beehive restaurant

Oddfellows Hall has been the subject of a huge restoration project, resulting in a modern-day eatery in addition to conference and meeting spaces, while being sympathetic to the building's many historic features.

The Beehive offers a fresh, seasonally changing menu developed by University Head Chef, David Broderick. David took his inspiration for the menus using local, seasonal, produce where possible.

The breakfast menu features a full English breakfast, homemade pancakes with yoghurt and berries, and breakfast barms. Lunch options feature smaller dishes such as soup of the day and chargrilled three-cheese and pickle sandwich. Main plates include grilled haddock with champ, tender stem and mustard cream sauce, half roast chicken with red pepper chimichurri and the unmissable fish and chip Friday with traditional sides. Vegetarian and vegan options include tomato ragu gnocchi and cauliflower and chickpea curry.

A full range of coffees, teas and hot chocolates are also available.

Jonathan Minshull, Head of Hospitality on Campus said: “We’re thrilled to open The Beehive and offer freshly cooked food to staff, students and visitors.

"It’s great to have a restaurant back on campus again, offering a fresh, seasonal menu for relaxed dining in a wonderful environment."
