Staff Survey 2022 is back

05 Sep 2022

Have your say in our relaunched Staff Survey

Staff Survey 2022

Dear colleague,

We are pleased to tell you that Staff Survey 2022 is now open.

All eligible colleagues will receive an email today from People Insight inviting you to complete the survey online. The survey will only take around 15 minutes to complete.

If you can’t find the email you can access the survey online. You will need to put in your Staff ID number to verify that you are eligible to complete the survey. Your individual responses will not be shared with the University and will be kept completely confidential by our survey provider People Insight.

Take two

You may recall that earlier in the year, the survey was paused due to a technical error which meant some colleagues were not asked a number of important questions. At that time we made the difficult decision to halt that version of the survey and re-issue a corrected version in early September so that we have a full and accurate view from all staff.

For those who completed the previous version of the survey, our commitment to plant a tree for every survey submitted will still be upheld – that’s 6,500 trees so far.

  • Even if you completed it last time, we need you to complete it again to ensure your feedback is taken into account.

The survey takes just 15 minutes. We know colleagues are busy, and many completed the previous version of the survey earlier this year. So please encourage your colleagues and teams to complete the survey and share their views about working here, both the good aspects and the things we need to improve.

Your feedback means we can make changes that make a real difference. You can read about some of the changes we have made since the last Staff Survey on StaffNet.

Making it easy

To make it as easy as possible for you to have your say, we have made some changes this time:

  • Giving you more time to complete the survey – six weeks from 5 September – 16 October.
  • Making it easier to access the survey – you can either access the survey directly from your email invitation from People Insight (you will receive regular reminders until you have completed the survey) or you can access the survey via a link that is available now on StaffNet and eUpdate.
  • Adding a QR code to posters and take-away cards that can be scanned using a smart device to access the survey online. Look out for them around campus.
  • Giving you more flexibility – the survey only takes 15 minutes to complete and doesn’t have to be completed in one sitting. You can start it and come back to it at a later stage, your responses will be saved but you will continue to get reminders until you submit it.

Prize draw

We have also introduced a prize draw, similar to in previous years, where each week of the survey one person will win an iPad. The prize draw rolls over each week so if you complete the survey in the first week you will be entered into every draw – that’s six chances of winning an iPad.

Everyone who completes the survey will also be able to redeem a free coffee (or other hot beverage) and a slice of cake at our FoodonCampus outlets and we are proud to confirm that we will also donate £1 for every survey completed to Re-write Cancer – money that will help create a new life-saving cancer research centre, right in the heart of Manchester.

Next steps

You will receive your email invitation from People Insight today and will receive reminders until it closes on 16 October.

Once the Staff Survey is successfully completed, we will follow up with a swift release of the results and the development of follow-on action plans.

Best wishes

Adèle MacKinlay, Director of People and Organisational Development
