City Nature Challenge 2022 comes to Greater Manchester

21 Apr 2022

What is City Nature Challenge?

City Nature Challenge

City Nature Challenge is a wildlife recording event organised by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles and California Academy of Sciences. Every year, cities from across the globe compete to have the highest number of people involved, observations made and species spotted, using the wildlife recording app, iNaturalist. Last year, City Nature Challenge was a fantastic opportunity to get people taking notice of the wildlife on their doorstep.

Take a look at last year's results - this year, City Nature Challenge is taking place between 29 April and 2 May.

Who is organising City Nature Challenge?

Greater Manchester's involvement in City Nature Challenge is organised by The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside, Manchester Museum, Manchester Parks Team and Greater Manchester Local Records Centre. Supported by the Manchester Nature Consortium.

What next?

Download iNaturalist and help us to make a record for local wildlife between 29 April and 2 May. Find out how you can take part locally and join the global wildlife recording movement.
