Staff Survey

Dear colleagues,

We are excited to announce our all-staff survey will run from Tuesday, 26 April – 17 May. The survey questions have been developed by us with input from academic and Professional Services colleagues here at Manchester, working with People Insight. People Insight are an independent survey company who work with many Universities to run independent surveys and will benchmark our results and advise on designing our subsequent action plan.

All colleagues will be asked to complete this survey, with the assurance that this is done anonymously and all responses are confidential.

For every survey completed, we’ll support Eden Reforestation Projects by planting one tree – helping our planet and contributing to our University’s sustainability goals.

Our last University-wide survey was in 2019. Many of the results were positive – on job satisfaction, opportunities for career development, commitment to the University’s mission and values - but colleagues also raised areas that we need to improve upon. We’ve taken action against many of the issues that you raised then – enhanced wellbeing support, progress on EDI, flexible working, professional development to name but a few. The last two years of the pandemic have taken their toll on all of us, as well as providing opportunities for organisational change - hybrid working as an example. However, we know that we have more to do to improve employee experience, in particular in the areas of workload, change management and EDI so that our University remains a great place to work for everyone.

Your voice is really important - please share your views when the survey lands in your inbox. It will take around 15 minutes of your time and will help us to really understand how colleagues feel about their work experience here, what’s good that we need to keep, and what needs to change.

We promise to listen and to act on your feedback.
