Four Staff Network groups at the University have been allocated a senior executive sponsor.

The BAME (Black Asian Minority Ethnic) Network Group, Disabled Network Group (DSN), LGBT+ Network Group (ALLOUT) and the Women’s Network Group have all been assigned a senior executive sponsor to help with their work around their equality groups and the intersectionalities within these groups.

  • Adèle MacKinlay, Director of People and Organisational Development, will champion the work of The Women’s Network
  • Colette Fagan, Vice-President for Research, will champion the work of the BAME Network
  • Nalin Thakkar, Vice-President for Social Responsibility, will champion the work of the DSN
  • Patrick Hackett, Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer, will champion the work of ALLOUT

Champions do not necessarily need to identify as being part of the equality group which they are championing, for example, a champion doesn’t need to have a disability to champion the Disability Staff Network, so long as the individual is willing and committed to engaging with the group and the overall equality, diversity and inclusion agenda.

The involvement of senior leaders in Staff Network Groups is in response to feedback from colleagues gathered in 2021 and 2022. It demonstrates our commitment to create an inclusive place to work and study that is characterised by equity, diversity and a sense of belonging for all. This will be essential to delivering the ‘Our people our values’ theme which lies at the heart of Our future
