We’re changing how students log in from tomorrow

08 Mar 2022

2-factor authentication will be required for all taught students to access Blackboard, University email and Microsoft 365 from tomorrow, Wednesday 9 March 2022.

If any students have not yet registered, they should sign up for Duo today via the IT Account Manager. 2-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to Blackboard, University email and Microsoft 365. Students who have not registered will not be able to access these services if you have not enrolled with Duo and registered a 2-factor device, such as a smartphone.

If a student doesn't have a smartphone or needs to discuss accessibility requirements for using 2-factor authentication at the University, you should direct them to contact the IT Support Centre today to discuss alternative options.

A range of support materials for students including a video guide on how to register with Duo and step-by-step instructions is available on the IT Services website – as are a series of frequently asked questions.

Help and support

Students can contact the IT Support Centre by calling 0161 306 5544 – the line is available 24-7.

In-person IT support for students is available from Library Digital Support by visiting the customer services desks in the Main Library and Alan Gilbert Learning Commons, and also at the IT support desk in the Kilburn Building.
