Create a micropoem in 280 characters on the theme of 'space'

Creative Manchester, in partnership with the Centre for New Writing and the Geological Society, has launched The University of Manchester 2021 Micropoetry competition to celebrate the Geological Society’s ‘Year of Space’.

To enter, participants are invited to write a space-themed micropoem and tweet their poem with the hashtag #micropoem21.

The competition launched on World Poetry Day – Sunday, 21 March 2021 – and ends on the longest day of the year, Monday, 21 June 2021.

Prizes

The prizes for the best three poems are:

  • 1st prize £500
  • 2 runner up prizes, each at £250
  • 10 pairs of tickets for Literature Live, autumn 2021 programme

Authors of the top three poems will be invited to attend a celebration event in September 2021 and to read their poem along with published poets.
