Could you become a school governor?

17 Nov 2020

Now more than ever, schools need your support - and you could develop new skills

There are hundreds of schools across the North West looking for people from broad backgrounds who can bring their skills to the table and support school improvement through effective governance. As a board level role, the school governor volunteering opportunity provides a real opportunity to make a difference in your community whilst utilising your expertise and developing new skills.

Governors for Schools is a national education charity committed to helping ensure excellent education. We recruit, match and support volunteers in the school governor role. As a member of staff, you’re invited to find out how your skills can benefit a school. Hundreds of your colleagues already contribute their expertise in this way.

A webinar on Wednesday, 18 November at 12:30pm will cover the role of school governing boards, how our free service works and the training we provide you with both before and after you are appointed as a school governor.

You’ll also hear more about the University's School Governor Initiative and how you’ll be supported in your role.
