Race Equality! What do you think?

23 Jan 2008

Survey to help in shaping the University's future priorities.

As part of the University's ongoing commitment to the equality and diversity agenda, we are currently developing a Race Equality Scheme. The priorities outlined in this document will affect everyone at the University: that's why we'd really like you to be involved in its development.

"The development of the Scheme and the programme of change it ensues require all members of the University community to take personal responsibility and be accountable for the institutional culture that they work in; this agenda for Manchester means widening our vision and broadening our horizon."

-- Professor Aneez Esmail, Associate Vice President (Equality and Diversity).

In common with the Gender and Disability Equality Schemes, this policy will not be left on the shelf. Instead it will form the basis of a programme of change in how the University approaches its core activities such as recruitment, progression and access to services and opportunities. To find out more about the development of the Scheme, follow the link below:

To help us better understand your experiences and perceptions a short survey has been put together. It is hoped this information will provide more detailed information and help shape the University's future priorities in this area.

The survey will be completely confidential and will be available from 21 January to 8 February 2008 and can be accessed in the following ways:

  • You can complete it online
  • Paper copies will be distributed to managers in identified areas and will also be available from the Equality and Diversity team
  • Alternative formats, if required, are available from the Equality and Diversity team on 0161 306 5857, 0161 306 5870 (minicom) or at equalityanddiversity@manchester.ac.uk
