New access control system at John Owens Building.

Swipe card readers in operation from 14 January.

From Monday 14 January 2008, an access control system will be in operation in the John Owens Building. Card readers at the entrance doors of the building will give access to holders of University swipe cards.

Unrestricted access will continue at the following entrances during the core hours of approximately 7am to 5.30pm, but outside core hours they will be accessible only with a University swipe card and existing key:

  • Door No 1 - Access from the Student Services Centre end of the lower ground floor
  • Door No 3 - Access from the Rear Quad via the north entrance door
  • Door No 6 - Access from the Old Quad via the main entrance

The following entrances will be accessible with a University swipe card during core hours and with a swipe card and existing key outside core hours:

  • Door No 2 - Access from the Rear Quad via the south entrance door
  • Door No 4 - Access corridor between John Owens and Beyer Building on the lower ground floor
  • Door No 5 - Access from the Rear Quad via the ex-Botany entrance
  • Door No 7 - Access from the Old Quad via the north entrance door (i.e. Old Quad entrance at the HR end of the building)
