Digital innovation workshop

Developing the University’s digital strategy – an event for University leaders and academics

Becoming a digital University together

Wednesday 9 October, 12.30-2pm, G107 Alan Turing Building, Upper Brook Street, Manchester

Earlier in August, as part of ‘Our People, Our Values’, a digital innovation workshop for senior University leaders was held. This was an introduction to the work we are doing towards developing a digital strategy for the University. A second event has been organised to appeal to University leaders and academics who were unable to attend previously. If you hold some form of digital responsibility in your role, and are interested in what we are doing, this event is for you.

The workshop will be led by Chris Pressler, John Rylands University Librarian and Director of The University of Manchester Library, and Malcolm Whitehouse, Chief Information Officer.

The session will focus on digital capabilities and introduce a proposed vision in terms of four capability areas. It is part of a series of engagements designed to ensure that as we work to further develop our digital innovation, we capture the views of our people along the way.

Chris will also dedicate time during the session to take questions from academics on Plan S and the potential changes in both research funder expectations on Open Access, and in international publishing of research outputs.

Our People, Our Values

Digital innovation is part of ‘Our People, Our Values’, which is at the heart of the University’s new strategic plan and vision that will launch in February 2020.

Our People, Our Values is driven by feedback gathered during ‘Our Future’ that suggested it is not what we do or why we do things that needs to transform, but how we do things.

Book your place

Refreshments will be available at the start of the event.

If you cannot make it, but are interested in finding out more and perhaps becoming a digital advocate in the future, please send a short email (with your contact information) to IT.marketing@manchester.ac.uk
