Our sustainability initiative receives national recognition

10,000 Actions wins again

The University’s environmental sustainability initiative, 10,000 Actions has won an IEMA Sustainability Impact Award. The awards recognise the people and businesses that are helping to make the world more sustainable, and 10,000 Actions – which encourages staff to make small commitments to ultimately impact the world’s greatest challenges – was triumphant in the Sustainability Campaign category.

Competing against campaigns from national organisations such as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Keep Britain Tidy, the judges were impressed by the amount of staff taking part in the initiative, and the tangible impact they've had on environmental concerns. They cited the the reduction in the number of staff sick days and the savings in fuel costs which both came as a result of the University actively encouraging staff to cycle to work.
