Sustainability Challenge kicks off the academic year in style

Sustainability Challenge achieves record-breaking numbers

On Tuesday, 17 September, over 5,000 first year undergraduates took part in the Sustainability Challenge, making it a record-breaking year. The event, which is one of the biggest in the University calendar, was delivered with the help of hundreds of staff.

Across the University, students worked in interdisciplinary groups in over 100 classrooms to develop a new campus for the fictitious University of Millchester. They had to incorporate factors such as cost and energy efficiency, while considering the needs of the local community and wider society.

If students missed the Sustainability Challenge, they can sign up to attend a catch-up session. We would really appreciate everyone's help in encouraging all first years to complete the challenge. It forms part of the University’s signature Ethical Grand Challenges programme, which engages undergraduates with key global issues and also counts towards the Stellify Award

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed and helped to make this event so successful.
