Following feedback from the Staff Survey 2017 around support for training the Directorate of Estates and Facilities have introduced a new process for training applications to ensure there is a consistent approach when allocating training activities.

All staff who request training, either to comply with elements of their role or for professional development, now complete an application form detailing their request. All applications are then assessed by senior management at a dedicated meeting before a decision is made.

Hannah Hoang, Senior Estates and Facilities Health & Safety Officer, who has recently been allocated funding for a training activity using the new process said: “the new streamlined process for training applications has made it so much easier to apply for training, and as each application is reviewed carefully, it has been a consistent and transparent process.”

The Directorate of Estates and Facilities has an overarching Staff Survey Action Plan with eleven supporting plans for each individual Unit. Plans are monitored and steady progress has been made in all actions identified since the 2017 survey.
