Our former Director of Communications Phil Radcliffe has died following a short illness

Former Director of Communications at the University Phil Radcliffe has died following a short illness.

Phil worked at the University from 1972 to 1996 and continued to be a great support to the University for many years after.

Associate Vice-President for External Relations and Reputation Alan Ferns said: “Phil was my first boss at the University of Manchester and my predecessor as Director of Communications. He joined the University as one of the sector’s first communications professionals after a distinguished career in journalism at the Daily Mail and the BBC.

“He will be greatly missed by all those who worked with him and had the privilege of his friendship.”

Phil’s funeral will be held at St John's Church, Buxton on Tuesday, 13 February at 11am.

His family has requested family flowers only but colleagues are welcome to make donations to Phil’s favourite charity, the NSPCC:
