Senate elections result

Academics take seats from 1 September 2017

The results of the Senate elections have been announced.

The elected academics will take their seats on the body responsible for monitoring standards in teaching and promoting research from 1 September 2017, in the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.

They are:

Faculty of Science and Engineering

  • Professor Louise Walker, School of Mathematics
  • Professor Aline Miller, School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science
  • Dr Maria Sharmina, School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering

Each will serve from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2020.

Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health

  • Dr Tracey Speake, School of Medical Sciences (re-elected)
  • Dr Pip Fisher, School of Medical Sciences
  • Dr Reinmar Hager, School of Biological Sciences
  • Dr Ilaria Russo, School of Biological Sciences
  • Dr Roger Harrison, School of Health Sciences.

Each will serve from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2020.

Faculty of Humanities

  • Dr Jackie Carter, School of Social Sciences
  • Dr Christian Goeschel, School of Arts Languages and Cultures
  • Dr Tanja Müller, School of Environment, Education and Development
  • Dr Kieron Flannagan, Alliance Manchester Business School.

Each will serve from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2020.

  • Due to a member of Senate leaving the University part way through their term, a place for a one-year term has arisen and Professor Ken McPhail, Alliance Manchester Business School, will fill this place from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2018.
